Triplets aged 13 were banned from hundreds of shops in Gillingham, Kent, for a "catalogue of unacceptable" offences.. A schoolgirl lost a £120,000 compensation battle yesterday over a claim that she had injured her back doing a headstand during a PE lesson. The teenager, who was 13 at the time, had claimed at Swansea County Court that she still took painkillers every day for an injury, which made it difficult even to raise her arms and that her job prospects had been affected.Judge Gary Hickinbottom rejected her account of events and said he believed the teacher's version, which he said was "modest, unassuming and quite compelling".He criticised witness statements put together by the schoolgirl's family, later signed by two pupils and submitted as evidence. "The words used in the statements were not the words of the witnesses themselves," he said in his judgment.

"They were prepared by the claimant's mother at a time when both the claimant and the witnesses were no more than about 13 or 14 years old."Miss Ashton, a former pupil at the former Dwr-y-Felin Upper School, claimed the education authority failed in its duty of care. Afterwards, Paul Bennett, Miss Ashton's solicitor, said she was "very disappointed" with the judgment and considering an appeal.Rex Phillips, of the NASUWT teaching union, said Carol Stevens' ordeal was finally over. "Her good name and reputation have been dragged through the courts by a chancer," he said..
